The construction steps of PVC waterproofing membrane mainly include the following three methods: full bonding method, empty laying method and mechanical fixing method. The specific construction steps and precautions of these three methods will be introduced below.
Full bonding method
The full bonding method is a construction method that fully bonds the PVC membrane to the base layer, which is suitable for places with high waterproofing requirements.
Construction steps
Base treatment: Make sure that the base layer is flat, dry, free of oil, dust and loose objects. If necessary, sandblasting, polishing and other methods can be used to treat the base layer.
Pre-laying membrane: Spread the PVC membrane naturally on the surface of the base layer where the line is laid out. Note that the membrane should be straight and flat, and the material cannot be twisted. The longitudinal overlap width of the membrane is 50mm, and appropriate cutting is required. The horizontal direction is usually butt-jointed, and a 200~250mm wide non-composite layer PVC membrane is used to cover the overlap and weld.
Apply adhesive: Fold the long side of one or more membranes in half (about 10m), and apply special adhesive to the base layer and the membrane surface from the fold. When the glue is dry and not sticky, close and paste the pre-laid roll surface and compact it with a roller.
Continue pasting and compacting: fold up the unfolded part, continue to apply adhesive and paste and compact it. And so on, until all rolls are firmly pasted.
Butt welding: weld the butt joints of the rolls to ensure that the joints are tightly sealed.
Precautions
The construction environment temperature should be above 5℃.
Special parts such as corners, yin and yang corners should be treated with additional layers.
Before the end of construction, the waterproof roll should be temporarily fixed to avoid being blown away by strong winds.
Empty paving method
The empty paving method is a construction method in which when paving PVC waterproof rolls, the rolls and the base layer are only bonded within a certain width around the entire waterproof layer, and the rest of the parts are not bonded.
Construction steps
Base layer treatment: Same as the full bonding method, ensure that the base layer is flat, dry, and free of oil stains, etc.
Pre-laying of coiled materials: refer to the full-bonding method for pre-laying of coiled materials, with a longitudinal overlap width of 50mm.
Full-bonding around all sides: only the coiled materials around the overall waterproofing project are fully bonded, and the overlap seams are welded.
Horizontal butt treatment: butt treatment is used horizontally, and 200~250mm wide coiled materials are used to cover and overlap and weld.
Special part treatment: special parts such as the periphery of pipes are sealed.
Fixing, edge pressing and edge sealing: Use fixings to fix the coiled materials on the base layer, and perform edge pressing and sealing with sealing materials.
Acceptance: Acceptance is carried out after the construction is completed to ensure that the quality of the waterproof layer is qualified.
Mechanical fixing method
The mechanical fixing method is a construction method that uses mechanical fastening fixings to connect the coiled materials to the base layer.
Construction steps
Base treatment: the same as the full-bonding method, ensure that the base layer is flat and dry, etc.
Pre-laying of coiled materials: refer to the full-bonding method for pre-laying of coiled materials, with a longitudinal overlap width of 100mm, of which 50mm is used as fixings.
Drilling and fixing: Use an impact drill to drill holes (the hole diameter is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the fixing screw) according to the designed and calculated fixed spacing. After the fixing parts are in place, tighten them with an electric screwdriver.
Butt welding: Weld each overlap, use butt treatment horizontally, and cover the overlap with a 200~250mm wide roll for welding.
Notes
The fixing parts need to pass through the insulation layer and be fixed on the structural layer.
The hole diameter should not be too large when drilling, and should be smaller than the fixed outer diameter.
Acceptance work is also required after the construction is completed.
Extended suggestions
Material selection: Make sure that the selected PVC waterproof roll meets the project requirements and is within the shelf life. At the same time, select supporting materials such as adhesives and breathable membranes with reliable quality.
Construction environment: Avoid construction in rainy days or environments with excessive humidity to avoid affecting the bonding effect and waterproof performance of the roll.
Quality control: During the construction process, the quality of each link should be strictly controlled, such as base treatment, roll laying, adhesive brushing, butt welding, etc. After the construction is completed, a comprehensive quality inspection should be carried out to ensure that there is no leakage in the waterproof layer.
Maintenance: After the construction is completed, the waterproof layer should be regularly maintained, such as checking whether the roll material is damaged or aged, and repairing or replacing it in time.
